? Cool Title, but what’s the news?

Subhash S, Watasale’s CEO, has opened a 500sq ft retail outlet in Kochi’s Gold Souk Grande Mall. Watasale is India’s first fully-automated, cashier-free shop.

? Okay, but what does it mean?

Watasale is a fully-automated, cashier-free shop, inspired by Amazon Go stores in the US, where you can just pick up an item and walk out with it, and the cost is debited from your e-wallet. A customer can walk in, pick products and leave. They don’t have to scan every product – just the QR code once at the entrance. Making for a truly hassle free shopping solution.

? Why should I care?

Watasale plans to expand to Bengaluru and Delhi soon. The world is increasingly moving towards a cashier-less shopping experience with the launch of Amazon Go stores in the US. Seeing this sort of effort in India is a welcome new development, and in the coming years could revolutionist the way you shop. Source: TOI
