It’s the end of the year and everyone is getting ready to celebrate Christmas and welcoming the New Year. It doesn’t matter if you’ve had the worst year, this is the time everyone gets together to bid the year gone by and get together and have a merry time! But here’s a little more Christmas cheer coming your way! We want to tell you about some of our favourite Christmas movies. Apart from being entertaining, there are also great lessons to be learnt from them about financial management. So here goes!

The Grinch That Stole Christmas

No one likes to be called a Grinch at Christmas. He’s mean and wants to steal Christmas and the joy it brings. But at the end he learns that there is more to Christmas than materialistic needs and wants. The financial lesson here? This season you’re going to see lots of sales and deals coming your way encouraging you to spend all that hard-earned money. And while we aren’t telling you to lock it all away, going and splurging isn’t the solution to financial management. It’s the death of it!

National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation

Few of you might have seen this film but it’s a must for Christmas. And from a financial perspective, all the more! It’s a series of disasters after the Griswalds are visited by family that are taken care of one after the other. Our insight? None of that fixing would have been possible if Mr. Griswald hadn’t saved some money away. You don’t have to wait for your year-end bonus to put away as savings. Just keep putting aside small amounts every now and then to build towards whatever dream you want fulfilled or for a rainy day! You can thank us later! 🙂

Hope you do get to watch these Christmas favourites of ours and more! And on that note, we’ll jingle away to celebrate this festive season ourselves! Merry Christmas folks!
